GAYLORD, Mich. (July
23, 2013) –
Community Financial Credit Union is proud to announce that Otsego County Child
Welfare Alliance, a northern Michigan non-profit, is a recent recipient of a
$1,000 donation through the third annual “Summer of Sharing” program.
The
Otsego County Child Welfare Alliance, a charity that serves children and their
families, is the only county organization providing car seats, lice removal
kits and home safety kits. With high demand for these items, plus recent budget
cuts, aid is critical.
“We’re
excited,” said Teresa Cherry, the group’s treasurer. “This is a life saver and
is going to allow us to continue our program without having to cut services. We
want to thank Community Financial for supporting our causes and the community.”
Community Financial is donating $1,000
every
Monday through Friday until August 30, 2013, to non-profit organizations
nominated during the Summer of Sharing campaign. Nominations can be made at www.SummerofSharing.org.
“We’re
a community credit union and we feel it’s important for the local community to
have a say in which organizations receive a donation,” said Bill Lawton,
Community Financial Credit Union President/CEO. “Our members are actively
involved in the community and we want to support the charities that are
important to them.”
Summer
of Sharing was first launched in 2011 to help celebrate Community Financial’s 60th
anniversary. The popular program is now
in its third year.
