Social Media and Texting Succeed in Helping Community Financial Credit Union Warm Hearts & Homes

PLYMOUTH, Mich. (Jan. 9, 2012) – Through the month of December, Community Financial Credit Union asked people across the area to help support local nonprofits by participating in its “Warming Hearts & Homes” campaign.

Today, Community Financial announced it met its goal, thanks to the overwhelming support of the public, and the credit union donated a total of $30,000 to The Heat And Warmth Fund (THAW), local food pantries and the Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids program.

Launched in early December, Community Financial, located in in Plymouth, Canton, Northville and Novi; as well as Gaylord, Hillman and Lewiston, pledged to donate $25 for every like on Facebook, tweet on Twitter or text message they received to these local charities during the holidays.

“This was a great program, because it got the public involved and gave them the chance to help support these wonderful nonprofits,” said Bill Lawton, Community Financial president/CEO.

“The support came from our members and non-members alike, which is great because it showed that the community was willing to rally in support of these groups when they need help the most.”
